SSO VICTORIAN BRANCH NEWS - 13 AUGUST 2007

  • * What Would YOU Do Without Us? **
  • - National Recognition Week - 20th - 24th August 2007 --

CONGRATULATIONS TO LEONIE CLARKE
WINNER OF ME's $500 SAVINGS ACCOUNT

Leonie is an SSO Library Assistant from Rainbow College and
sent over 20 entries for the competition to badge National
Recognition Week.

When the judges saw her contribution they knew that they had
found the winner!

There were many excellent entries, but Leonie's slogan
really caught our eye and expressed just how schools
couldn't run without the expertise and professionalism of
SSO's throughout Australia.

Like many SSO's, Leonie's role is varied and ever-changing;
in addition to being in charge of the Library, she is also
responsible for first aid, catering, canteen orders, and the
many other jobs around the school that arise.

Leonie tells CPSU that having her entry win felt like
discovering a "pot of gold at the end of her Rainbow".

Born and educated in this small town in the southern end of
the Mallee, and a descendent of its original pioneers, she
combines her job at the College with extensive involvement
in local committees and activities.

Leonie is proud to say that she is "from the country".

CPSU wishes to thank all entrants.

The slogan competition was so successful that we hope to
repeat it next year.

The NRW posters and campaign kit will be arriving at your
school today - so keep a look out!

  • DO YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR JOB?

Then join CPSU so you can vote for your working conditions!

The SSO claims log will be launched during National
Recognition Week and an email vote will be arranged online,
so the negotiating document on which your new Agreement will
be based can be ratified by union members.

CPSU WILL NEED YOU TO VOTE SOON!

Thanks also to our Torchbearers.

Meetings to explain our claims will be held at Victorian schools soon.

LOOK FOR THE MEETING NOTICE ON YOUR COMPUTER OR NOTICE BOARD.

CPSU has conducted many phone conferences with Torchbearer's
over the last fortnight, and meetings to discuss our draft
log of claims are arranged for these schools during August:

Boneo PS, Bundoora SC, Edithvale PS, Cape Schanck, Roxburgh
Park, Sunbury Downs, Lucknow PS, Gowrie St PS, Mill Park SC;
Northcote High School, Glen Katherine PS, and Bairnsdale SC.

To arrange a visit at your school or conference, call
CPSU Industrial Officer Geraldine Hughes on 03 9639 1822 or
email ghughes@cpsuvic.org.
