Big vote at Sydney Uni for Agreement
Big pay rise and mat leave for General Staff approved
98% of General Staff have voted to approve the new University of Sydney General Staff Agreement, which delivers a pay rise over 3 years of 18% (19.5% cumulative) plus $1,000 sign-on bonus.
In addition, the agreement provides for the equivalent of 36 weeks paid maternity leave and delivers a number of other benefits to General Staff, with the only significant trade-off being that the small number of highly paid senior managers are excluded from the agreement.
This success represents the culmination of nearly 2 years of bargaining and congratulations should go to the CPSU's negotiating team: David Mendelssohn, Maria Cirillo, David Griffin and Ralph Halden.
