Employers ask for casuals statement
Last week, we reported that in principle agreement had been reached with the university employers in settlement of claims about university casuals lodged in the Commission by ourselves and the NTEU.
At the request of some employers, we ask that you note the following qualifications to what we said then.
Negotiations are still continuing and a number of matters are not yet fully settled, although we are optimistic that a full settlement will be concluded very shortly.
The statement previously issued was primarily to inform our members properly about details of the proposed settlement leaked to Campus Review by a source unknown to us. We would not otherwise have issued anything publicly at this time, as it was the intention of all parties to maintain confidentiality of the details of the settlement until it was finalised.
