Older Women's Network Survey
30 April 2003
Participants are needed for a survey, which will develop a broad map of what older women contribute through their various voluntary efforts.
A great deal of what makes our communities good places to live in is done by people for each other at no cost. The Older Women's Network (Australia) previous projects have shown that older women who are skilled networkers and organisers in their communities do much of this. But their contribution is often not seen or acknowledged because our economy only counts things which can be measured in money terms.
This project will develop ways to identify and value the contribution of older women and use the information to give older women more effective ways of doing things for themselves, their communities and informing government policy that affects them.
The stages of the project are:
This Survey - which will develop a broad map of what older women contribute through their various voluntary efforts
A range of case studies which demonstrate different ways older women are effecting social change
Workshops with groups of older women which will help groups learn from the case studies and develop ways of recording their effort in future.
Please copy and distribute this survey as widely as possible. If you would like an electronic version for inclusion as an email or to insert into newsletters please contact the project officer.
Completed survey should be returned by the end of May to the contact details below.
The survey can be downloaded from the Community Builders site at: http://www.communitybuilders.nsw.gov.au/events/20030417_478.html
