School admin staff vote to strike

26 November 2002

NSW delegates representing School Administrative and Support Staff have voted to call a strike of members during the first week of Term 1 next year.

The strike will start with a state-wide meeting using Sky Channel on January 29.

The decision has been caused by the Department of Education & Training's infuriating delays in putting a new staffing proposal on the table.

They just keep saying that it will be delivered "next week".

Over recent years a great deal of extra work has been transferred out into the schools. This has caused a major work overload problem.

The Department accepts this is so and along with the PSA they have been conducting a staffing review. The PSA put a proposal to them months ago.
The Department has been promising their proposal ever since.
